Vintage from the 18th century
Materials: Porcelain
Set of 2 cups and saucers with decoration of corn flower sprays and flower buds. The cornflower (barbeau in French) was eligibly Marie Antoinette’s favorite flower, as it was the color of her eyes. In 1871 Sevres created the service ‘Perles et Barbeaux’ for the queen. The cornflower decor was soon adapted by multiple manufactures and gained popularity all over Europe. These simple but sophisticated cups and saucers are not only a pleasure in the collectors cabinet, but are well surprisingly usable as the porcelain is quite think and strong.
Saucers diameter: 13 cm Cups diameter: 7 cm Cups height: 4.5 cm
All unmarked but with some incised cypher. Good condition. Rubbing and wearing to the gilt borders.
