Delft – Polychrome ‘Four Hearts Charger – Adriaan Rijsselbergh, ‘De Grieksche A’, early 18th century

A large Delft earthenware dish with “Four Hearts” pattern, the four heart-shaped cartouches between stylized pine cones on a mottled green ground with blue lined palmettes, the medallions connected with a band of solid blue and surrounding a central radial burst of eight feathers . Each cartouche depicts an image of shrubbery.

Marked ‘AR’ to the underside: Adriaan van Rijsselbergh owner of ‘De Grieksche A’ or ‘De Grieckse A’ (1701-1735)
