ABOUT THIS ITEM
Dutch Delftware beer jug, first half of the 18th century. Tin-glazed earthenware, decorated in bright cobalt blue with stylized flower buds and foliate sprays on a white ground. This form, inspired by contemporary German stoneware and silver examples, was a popular Delftware type produced for both domestic use and export.
Conditon:
Slight wear to the rim, star-shaped hairline crack in the body. The jug is fitted with a pewter lid, possibly a later replacement.
