Delft polychrome ‘Boerendelft’ small plate – early 19th century
€200.00
ABOUT THIS ITEM
An early 19th-century Boerendelft polychrome plate, decorated with a central floral arrangement painted in green, yellow, blue, and manganese on a white tin-glazed ground. This type of decoration represents the folk-inspired continuation of the Delftware tradition, produced in the Netherlands during the late 18th and early 19th centuries when hand-painted tin-glazed ceramics were adapted for a broader, rural market.
Although unmarked, the plate belongs to the characteristic group known as Boerendelft (“Farmer’s Delft”), which preserved the visual language of 18th-century Delft faience through more spontaneous and colorful floral designs.
Condition: Good; minor wear consistent with age, slight expected rubbing to the rim.
