Dutch Delft Chinoiserie plate depicting a large dragonfly, in a Chinese garden, sitting on a rock. All within a shaped octagonal border.
The rim in brown and the wide border with a series of roundels depicting stylized flower heads and bugs.
The reverse with underglaze blue painted O’s and X’s.
Marked with a star; ‘De Witte Starre’ 1660-1804
The dragonfly is a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Chinese culture.
Good condition: light chipping and some usual wear to the rim.
